Taking P.T

Car pollution contributes to (percentage) of total nitrogen oxide pollution. We have already talked about the consequences of nitrogen oxide. We will now focus on the culprits of a significant portion of NO emissions: car commuters. These commuters are mostly from New Jersey and Staten Island and contribute to 28% of the nitrogen oxide emissions. Two thirds of New Jersey car commuters drove alone.

Instead of taking a car, there is the option of taking the Port Authority Bus Terminal. There are over 240 stops and is the cheapest mode of transportation. For Staten Islanders, the average commute time is 42.6 minutes. But it is longer for commuters that take a car through the Staten Island Expressway. A faster and cheaper option is to take the MTA bus. There are over 20 buses that run through Staten Island and to the city. It is also extremely cheap as using a metrocard will get you a free transfer to any train. There is a new feature coming to all MTA buses that allow for an individual to pay through their phone, avoiding any inconveniences with using a metrocard.
